Description

Wolfgang Puck, undoubtedly one of the most famous chefs in the world, has spawned a culinary empire that includes a fine-dining group of 12 internationally acclaimed restaurants and more than 30 casual eateries across the country. Puck also heads Wolfgang Puck Worldwide Inc., which controls, licenses and franchises the Wolfgang Puck brand in a wide variety of business activities.

Puck, the official caterer to the Governor’s Ball following the Oscars, was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame in 2013.

The Austrian-born Puck began his formal culinary training at age 14, inspired by his mother Maria, who was a hotel chef. Puck came to America in 1973 at the age of 24, having already worked in the master kitchens of three-star French restaurants. In 1975, Puck moved to Los Angeles and soon was chef and part owner of Ma Maison.

After the 1981 publication of his first cookbook, Puck, in partnership with designer Barbara Lazaroff, opened Spago on West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip in 1982.

“Wolfgang Puck” began airing on the Food Network in January 2001 and was awarded a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Service Show in 2002. The following year, Puck launched another television program, “Wolfgang Puck’s Cooking Class.”

Puck regularly appears on numerous morning news programs, late-night talk shows, competitive cooking shows and network television series, including a recent appearance on “CSI”. He also provided the voice for Chef Smurf in the 2011 film “The Smurfs.”
